Limón Aid
What librarians are up to
Marilia Antunez, Collection Management Librarian for the Sciences, will be traveling to Limón, Honduras, during the month of September with the non-profit group, Limón Aid. The September team is comprised of 21 health care workers, mostly from the Michigan area. During their stay in Limon and surrounding areas, they will see patients, dispense prescriptions, provide HIV education and prevention, and work on service projects (e.g. build community toilets, paint and repair the school, work in the orphanage, conduct a health and community survey). Ms. Antunez, having moved to the United States from Honduras at the age of eleven, will be serving as a bilingual interpreter and volunteer aid worker.
